Harley History

The Harley Davidson motorcycle is a pristine motorcycle that was created in 1903. The company started small and has grown into the biggest motorcycle company in the world. Its name has value and so does the bike. Harley Davidson is a bike with a great story behind it.

Harley Davidson is based out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The motorcycles that they design are made for cruising down the highway. All the motorcycles they manufacture are heavyweight and have over 750 cc’s. The legend of the bike started with some drawn up plans in 1901 by William Harley who was 21 years old at the time. Over the next two years William and his friend Arthur Davidson took the plans and put them into action in the machine shop of a friend, Henry Melk.

Arthur’s brother Walter was the final member who managed to complete the first bike. The first bike was quickly put aside to try building a new bike since the first one couldn’t even make it up a small hill without needing to pedal. The second bike was a success and considered the first real Harley Davidson. In 1906, they began manufacturing bikes and made 50 bikes that year. In 17 years, they became the biggest motorcycle manufacturer in the world.

Over the last 105 years the Harley Davidson motorcycle has really evolved. The bike only gets better with each new creation. Harley is a name that has been around for a long time and doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon. If it can make it through the Great Depression, it will be able to survive anything else that comes its way.
