Harley Davidson and Veterans

The manufacturer Harley Davidson employs many veterans as patriotism and freedom are of great value to them. The plant is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The veteran workers are given recognition for service to the United States. All the time they are on active duty these employees are paid the difference between their military pay and what they would be receiving in their work at Harley Davidson. The entire time that the employee serves in the military it is continued.

The employees of Harley Davidson are about fourteen percent military veterans or reserve guard members. All of the members that are actively serving in the military each year are sent care packages. All of the spouses of each of the veterans that serve are called to ask if they need any help.

Harley Davidson sponsors a parade each year for the veterans on Armed Forces Day. This parade ends at Veteran’s Park in Milwaukee. The executives of the company often speak at ESGA functions about their employees and what they are doing. The Harley Davidson Company stands for “freedom, patriotism and independence." Many of the veteran motorcycle owners and the riders have stood for this all their lives.

Many of the dealerships for Harley Davidson sponsor events for military veterans. They offer breakfasts for them and also give donations to the USO. The motorcycle parades each year are very popular for the military personnel.

In 2003 a new program was started. They began awarding the Genuine Hero Award in this year. The recipient’s has given their dedication and military service to the United States of America. You can look online for information about the military members that the company has there.
