The movie that probably comes to mind when one thinks of Harley- Davidson motorcycles is Easy Rider. The customized Harley-Davidson Panhead, ridden by Billy in the movie helped make a name for Harley motorcycles. The cult movie classic, filmed in 1969 starred Peter Fonda, Jack Nicholson and Dennis Hopper.
The year 1991 produced another Harley-Davidson movie, Harley-Davidson and the Marlboro Man, starring Mickey Rourke and Don Johnson. Another 90s film featuring the Harley-Davidson motorcycle is Terminator 2: Judgment Day starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold is seen wearing a leather jacket and Ray-Bans and riding that big Harley, looking very cool.
Quinton Tarantino’s 1994 hit Pulp Fiction features a Harley-Davidson chopper. The cult movie starred John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson and a host of other up-coming actors.
In 2006 we see the movie X-Men 3: The Last Stand showing the character Cyclops, portrayed by James Marsden riding a Harley-Davidson V-Rod. This model is equipped with the Revolution engine and is one of the most powerful Harley-Davidson models.
Ghost Rider, released in 2007 is another Marvel Comics film starring Nicholas Cage. This movie also boasts a Harley-Davidson. In this film Nicholas portrays Johnny Blaze, a stunt rider who challenges the devil and fears nothing. In the film the bike morphs and becomes a hell-bike for the Ghost Rider. 2007 also released another film called Wild Hogs, starring Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy. In the film these middle-aged guys try to escape their troubles while living the biker life.
If the use of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the movie industry remains true to its past, we’ll continue to see the Harley –Davidson for years to come.
