Rival Biker Gangs
Motorcycle gangs are a part of motorcycle culture. Some people are
repelled by them, while others see them as family. Many of these gangs
began during and soon after the second world war. They were comprised
of men who had fought together. Often these men had been through things
that civilians would never understand.
For example, the Hell's
Angels, which began in 1948, is an outlaw motorcycle club. It's also
the nickname for several airborne divisions in the military, which is
probably how the name came to be associated with bikers.
While the vast majority of biker clubs get together simply to have a good time, show off custom Harleys, and enjoy the open road,
outlaw biker gangs engage in activities of a much more sinister nature
and give the rest a bad name. Outlaw bikers often organize similarly to
the mafia. Rival biker gangs fight over turf, and will kill if they feel threatened. For example, throughout the history of the Bandidos motorcycle gang, they have been rivals of the Hell's Angels.
During
the mid nineties, rival biker gangs in Scandinavia fought a fierce war
over drugs and territory. This was known as the Great Nordic Biker War.
During this conflict eleven people were murdered and many more were
injured.
Besides the fighting over territory, outlaw biker
gangs are also involved in such things as drug trafficking and
prostitution. Outlaw biker gangs are all about making money. The fierce
nature and law bucking attitude has led many people to develop a
mistrust of all biker gangs. However, most biker clubs are harmless,
and are a great way to meet people and have a good time riding
motorcycles. FriendlyBikers.com is one of the better communities of
bikers, and the riders are all about having fun and enjoying their
motorcycles.
